We continue the discussion begun in San Cristobal de las Casas, México, and Xelajú Guatemala about biological and cultural diversity. We defend our communities against attempts to convert us into importers of foodstuffs and exporters of natural resources. On the contrary, we fight for an economic model that does not permit biopiratery, genetically modified organisms , nor the environmental destruction done by the powerful, but rather we strive for a system in which communities are the principal actors and beneficiaries. At the same time, we defend our right to cultural and political autonomy, which is ever more diminished by being used as cheap labor and passive consumers by the neoliberal system. We invite grassroots groups and other groups interested in sharing experiences and planning resistence at the regional and global level.
